Julia Gascoigne Palmer

My work as an Artist has always followed a path through landscape, place and people. The opportunity to travel has influenced my Art practice. A love of colour and drawing goes with me on my journey. I am stimulated by experimenting with different materials and textures. I also use photography and digital drawing on an iPad to capture a scene, which means that I’m never without the ability to capture and record.

Between 1975 and 1978, I studied for a degree in Fine Art Painting at Goldsmiths College, London. In 1982 I moved to Brighton where I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Printmaking and a PGCE, postgraduate certificate in Education.
This led to the start of a long and varied teaching career. Working in Schools, Colleges, community centres as well as running Art Classes from my studio. I love to work with small groups of students, where I can share my passion for painting. Drawing very directly from my own discoveries and love of colour, to nurture and encourage students' individual journey.
